Easy to assemble, my 8 YO had a great time putting it together. Nice size for a up to a couple people, durable and well made.

Difficult to assemble, very flimsy

About Me Advanced
6 screws, 8 nuts, 2 locks, 1 1/2 hours to assemble. This was one of the poorest made products I have yet to encounter. The nuts do not come in a standard or Metric size so even finding a tool to assemble it with was difficult. Due to the angle of the hinges, you basically must close yourself inside the box to attach the hinges and secure them with a nonstandard bolt that you can't reach from inside the box. Now for the side hinges. They look like they are about to snap off every time the product opens and not all of the holes come drilled out. The back 2 were fine but I had to use a power drill so I could cut the holes out so I could attach the front hinges. I have not mounted it on my car yet but the U-bolts to do so have a rougher finish and look like they would scratch up the crossbars. The nuts to attach the U-bolts stick up into the bottom of the carrier, so an item the width of the carrier will not sit flat on the base of it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

my first carrier, & it could be improved
from Kent, OH
About Me Beginner
I like this carrier, but it leaked a little bit in the rain on the highway. It looked like it was coming in at the rivets on the front mechanism that holds the lid open. I replaced the rivets and the screws with stainless screws, put small o-rings under the screw heads and a rubber gasket under the inside bracket plate. On the 2nd trip, I didn't see the leak. Seems like Thule needs to pay more attention to the details.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
