Good with some issues

Works well and easy to use, but... 1) The bike rear end would bounce around in the bed of the truck. Used tie down strap through seat to keep it from bouncing. 2) My truck is old and the tailgate will not lock. All you need to do to steal the bike is open the tailgate and take the rack and bike. 3) After a few years, the rivet holding one of the straps broke. Still waiting if Thule will repair it under warranty.

Simple and secure

I use a couple of these in the back of my truck. They are locked in with the tailgate locked. I suppose someone could release the locked in straps and remove the rack leaving the straps. I like this option a lot better than a tailgate pad.Sometimes I use it in addition to my hitch rack when more riders come along.

doesn't fit 29 X 3

Works well with my road and CX bikes, but does not actually fit a mid fat 29x3 (mine is a trek stache) as the description says. Another review also confirms this. The arm needs to be longer to grab the ratchet. I actually have two of these bolted to the front of my truck bed instead of using the tailgate to secure them. They work well for most bikes as I said, Thule just needs to either make the arms longer or correct the stated range of use.
