Choose a different rack

By

from johnson city, tn

Pros

  • Ease of use; locks; sturdy
  • looks great

Cons

  • broken strap after 5 uses
  • cradles slide during transit
  • handlebars of 1 bike go through spokes of next
  • significant bouncing and rubbing of bikes

Best Uses

  • 2 bikes
  • low speed
  • short distance

Comments about Thule Apex 9025:

approx 5 times used: one strap has broken, the cradles that hold the bikes have slid many inches during transit, causing bikes to smack into one another; with 3 hybrids, one has to put its handlebars through the spokes of the next. The amount of bouncing is shocking. If you just take your bikes around town, this may work well. The rack is easy to take on and off the car, it is easy to mount the bikes, the locks are handy. If you travel with your bikes, like we do, you may need to return this for a different product. Such a disappointment. I bought a hitch receiver just to be able to use this rack. I still trust Thule, just not this particular rack.

      Comments about Thule Apex 9025:

I definitely don't recommend this bike rack and am very disappointed after only one use. Frustrated to say the least! Very difficult to use, though easy enough to install.

      Poorly engineered bike holder

      By

      from OKC, OK

      Comments about Thule Apex 9025:

If you value your bike you might want to walk away from this bike rack. Both my full suspension mountain bike and road bike slides off the cradle when driving at highway speeds even, if you use the nylon strap, which was obviously provided to tie down the bike for stability. (The strap has rubbed paint off of my road bike) The mountain bike barley fits onto the rack. If you do not stabilize the front wheel with the nylon strap the handle bars will continually crash into the top of the rack while driving in stop and go traffic. This is a very poorly engineered bike rack. It might be ok for short trips but if you plan on driving at any rate of highway speed the bikes will become unstable. It is compact and light and is easy to install but limited to the intent and purpose of transporting a bicycle.
