problem solved indeed

I was skeptical at first but I was amazed at how easy the Outrigger II was to install and how easy it is to use. I'm a female 5'2", retired and I always have to have someone help me load and unload my 55# kayak on my SUV. I was very frustrated not knowing if I would have help. This simple accessory makes it very possible for me to load and unload my kayak alone. I installed it on my existing Thule bar roof rack on the passenger side and on the front bar. I lay my kayak parallel to my vehicle on the Outrigger II side with the kayak hole facing up. I put the bow a little in front of the extension bar. I put a piece of spare carpeting (that has rubber on the back) and place it under the stern to hold it from slipping while I lift the bow. I go to the bow of my kayak and face the kayak front to back. I then lift the bow straight up and lay the bow on the extension bar. I then go to the stern and while lifting it I pivot the kayak so it is upside down and then I slide the kayak over the rear roof bar. Because of my height I am just able to get the kayak over the rear bar, but it works nicely. If I were an inch shorter I would have to use my little step ladder. I then go back to the bow and slide the front of the kayak off the extension bar and onto the front rack. I then tie down the kayak to the bars using my NRS 9' straps and finish with a bow and stern rope to the SUV bumper. BTW- I purchased my pair of Thule bar roof racks in 2008 and used them on my Chevy Tahoe. However the clamps didn't fit my new 2018 Chevy Traverse. Through investigation I found out that I didn't need to buy a new rack to fit my new vehicle, but only needed to purchase 4 longer bolts that are threaded the same. Saved a lot of dollars and works perfectly. I'm a happy kayaker.

Does not work with all Thule products

1

I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla and ordered the appropriate SquareBar 135, Evo Clamps, and Fit Kit 5148. As those products weren't listed as compatible with the Outrigger, I called Thule to verify. They confirmed that the above products were compatible but simply hadn't been listed. Unfortunately, when my I went to get my rack set up, neither myself nor the experienced staff and my local canoe & kayak shop could these components to work together. They're clearly not compatible.
