      Comments about Thule Paceline 527:

I have two installed on top of my Mazda 3 hatchback. I replaced my old Velo vise's with them, I do like the silver better than black. This bike carrier is super easy to use and is very secure. Quick release style clamps hold my thru axel adapter nice and strong. Bike industry stickers look great on the side of the tray. Not sure why some people have written saying the tray hits their hatch, must have their OE bars in the wrong location.

      Design has reliability issues

      Comments about Thule Paceline 527:

I have had to replace 2 of these in about a year, and time to move on. My main rack is a hitch-mount (another brand). I got this as an optional carrier to go with a roof rack I bought mainly for cargo purposes. It's nice to use in a pinch but I have had to failures of the front clamping mechanism. There are just too many moving pieces on the front to perform what should be 2 simple functions - (1) bike to carrier and (2) carrier to roof rails. There are 2 levers that sort of interact with each other to apply clamping force to the bike fork and also to the roof rails. Anyway, mine had two failures. One time the lever simply broke. That got replaced under warranty and then then warranty replacement failed. The outer pin that pinches the fork on one side simply snapped off under tension driving down the freeway. Fortunately the other side stayed on long enough for me to pull over and remove the bike. I would not be comfortable using this rack again except for very occasional use, e.g. in case of emergency (like on my wife's car in case she ever needs to rescue me from somewhere).

used this on a Honda CR-V 2016 and it hangs so far over the back end of the car that when I opened the rear hatch the thule dented the top of the rear hatch.
