Terrible Product. No Support from Thule.

By

from Wisconsin

Pros

  • Swing arm is good.

Cons

  • Bikes blow around in wind.
  • Bikes drag on the ground.
  • Cradles move back and forth, destroying bikes.
  • Doesn't fit even slightly odd geometries (MTB's)
  • Requires many extra straps/ropes/spacers.
  • Rubber straps let go.
  • Thule won't consider replacing w/ T2 Pro.

Comments about 9027 Apex Swing 4 Bike:

Bad product and no warranty from Thule. Getting bikes secure requires at least an hour. No spontaneous stops. Spend so much time watching in rear-view mirror for bikes to drop/slide, that I'll run into something.

Comments about 9027 Apex Swing 4 Bike:

It carries 4 heavy bikes well. That's its job and that's what you pay for. Unfortunately, Thule ignored small details that matter. 1. Lock cores are cheap and have never worked correctly. 2. After a 700 mile road trip two of the rubber straps were ripped through to the next hole. 3. Regardless of how tight you crank the hitch connection the loaded rack will sway back and forth. Poorly designed to fit into a two inch receiver they rely on an aluminum expansion block to create a snug fit. You must constantly check the tightness especially if there is any thermal expansion or contraction.

Great product but no assembly instructions

        By

        from San Jose

        Pros

        • Good quality, looks strong

        Cons

        • Missing washer
        • No assembly instructions in the box

Comments about 9027 Apex Swing 4 Bike:

I was a little disappointed that no assembly instructions are in the packaging and also it was missing a washer. I ended up having to download the instructions to my iPad, and using this. I prefer something in my hand. The washer is pretty big, so I had to go to a hardware store to buy a replacement for the one that was missing.

Assembly took me around 30 mins as no initial instructions, then finding them online. It is a little awkward to assemble and tighten the bolts. But the overall quality look good and time will tell how robust they are.
