Comments about Thule Apex Swing 9027:

Was excited about the Apex Swing when I received it. Upon assembly I was extremely disappointed to find that the hitch mechanism was designed for a 1.25" receiver and uses an adapter block to fit a 2" receiver. In use, the anti-rattle knob is good for reducing rattle, but nearly completely useless from a security standpoint. I installed the rack, turned the knob to what I thought was fairly tight, and after flipping the "auto-pin" open, I began tugging the assembly out of the receiver. I had it removed within 5 seconds. With a good wrenching of the wrist, I can tighten it up to where I can't pull it out by hand, but it's still removable with a few whacks with a rubber mallet. If Thule had any brains whatsoever about them, they would have designed this product (around a 2" receiver, as advertised) so that I can use my locking hitch pin, and they could still retain the anti-rattle mechanism without the added cost of the useless lock. Poor design, Thule.

Other than the cost and the time to sign up to complete process, shopping here was a great experience. The keys arrived quickly and were perfect.

    Pros

    • Swing arm is good.

    Cons

    • Bikes blow around in wind.
    • Bikes drag on the ground.
    • Cradles move back and forth, destroying bikes.
    • Doesn't fit even slightly odd geometries (MTB's)
    • Requires many extra straps/ropes/spacers.
    • Rubber straps let go.
    • Thule won't consider replacing w/ T2 Pro.

Comments about Thule Apex Swing 9027:

Bad product and no warranty from Thule. Getting bikes secure requires at least an hour. No spontaneous stops. Spend so much time watching in rear-view mirror for bikes to drop/slide, that I'll run into something.
