Consumer product recall

Thule Sleek #11000001 - #11000019

At the Thule Group we take product quality very seriously and product safety is our top priority. We conduct extensive testing to ensure that our Thule products meet all global industry and regulatory standards. Unfortunately, we have identified a risk of the handlebar potentially detaching from the Thule Sleek stroller frame, posing a fall hazard for the child.

The Thule Sleek stroller manages all structural integrity tests according to applicable standards. The safety and well-being of our customers and their families is of utmost importance for us at Thule and it's our policy to act whenever we identify potential risks for injury, or are made aware of them - even if the likelihood of this occurrence is limited. As such, the Thule Group has decided to do a voluntary recall of the Thule Sleek strollers produced between May 2018 through September 2019. Units produced October 2019 and thereafter are not affected by this recall and can be continuously used.

What do we want you to do

We kindly ask you to take the following immediate actions:

Q: Why are you initiating a product recall on the Thule Sleek stroller?
A:
At the Thule Group we take product quality very seriously and product safety is our top priority. We conduct extensive testing to ensure that our Thule products meet all global industry and regulatory standards. Unfortunately, we have identified a risk of the handlebar potentially detaching from the Thule Sleek stroller frame, posing a fall hazard for the child.

The Thule Sleek stroller passes all regulatory tests according to applicable standards. The safety and well-being of our customers and their families is of utmost importance for us at Thule and it's our policy to act whenever we identify potential risks for injury, or are made aware of them – even if the likelihood of this occurrence is limited. As such, the Thule Group has decided to stop the distribution and sale of the Thule Sleek stroller with a production date between May 2018 through September 2019. All Thule Sleek strollers produced October 2019 and thereafter are not affected by this recall and can be sold.

A:
No. It is only the Thule Sleek strollers #11000001 -11000019 that are affected

Q: Can I continue to use the Thule Sleek stroller?
A:
No. Since we have decided to recall the product we recommend consumers to immediately stop using the Thule Sleek stroller and that they do not allow others to use it. There is a risk that the handlebar can detach from the stroller frame, posing a fall hazard for the child.

Q: How do I know that I have this product?
A:
All Thule Sleek Strollers produced between May 2018 through September 2019 are potentially affected. The product’s production date can be easily identified by checking the product label located on the inside of the lower stroller frame.

Q: Why are only certain date codes affected?
A:
Due to changes in the manufacturing process after September 2019, we have eliminated the possibility that this issue could occur.

Q: What testing have you performed on the Stroller to verify the safety of the product?
A:
Thule has performed a well-defined set of tests specified by global test standards and regulatory requirements, but we also perform additional internally defined Thule tests to meet the safety and quality levels we require of a product. The tests consist of fatigue tests, static and dynamic tests, chemical resistance tests, temperature tests, UV tests as well as user testing.
