Product Recall: Thule Spring Bumper Bar - 11300403

We need to inform you that we have identified a defective batch from our supplier of Thule Spring Bumper Bar - 11300403.

At the Thule Group we take product quality very seriously and product safety is our top priority. We conduct extensive testing to ensure that our Thule products meet all global industry and regulatory standards. Unfortunately, we have identified a defective batch from our supplier of Thule Spring Bumper Bar - 11300403, when the production process was not according to our specifications. The possible issue is a round small plastic cover piece not being in place (pictures below shows OK and NOT OK product). Faulty products that are missing the plastic cover can pose a pinching hazard to unattended children, when closing the bumper bar.

The safety and well-being of our customers and their families is of utmost importance for us at Thule and it's our policy to act whenever we identify potential risks of injury, or are made aware of them - even if the likelihood of this occurrence is limited. As such, the Thule Group has decided to do a voluntary recall of Thule Spring Bumper Bar – 11300403, sold after April 1st, 2021.

This issue is only connected to one single production batch, distributed after April 1st, 2021. All units produced before and after are not affected by this recall and can be continuously sold and used.


What we want you to do

We ask you to take the following immediate actions:

  • Stop using the Thule Spring Bumper Bar
  • If you have purchased the Thule Spring Bumper Bar after April 1st, 2021, please check your product to ensure it is not affected by this recall. Below pictures show an OK vs. NOT OK product. Please make sure to check both left and right side of the product.

If you identify you have a product affected by this recall, we ask you to take the following actions:

  • Register below for a replacement Thule Spring Bumper Bar, to be shipped directly to you. The replacement product is available immediately. No proof of purchase is required. We ask you to promptly return your current product. A pre-paid shipping label is included with replacement product in order to return the product to Thule Group free of charge.

Please note this recall for replacement of product is limited to units sold after April 1st, 2021, with the above described issue and does not affect any other units.

Q: Can I continue to use the Thule Spring Bumper Bar?

A: Before continuing to use the Thule Spring Bumper Bar, we ask you to immediately inspect it according to the pictures shown above. Please make sure to check both left and right side of the product. If your product matches the NOT OK product picture missing the plastic cover piece we ask you to immediately stop using the product and register here online for a replacement product free of charge, which is available immediately. If your product matches the OK product picture with a plastic cover in place, you can safely continue to use the product.


Q: Will there be a new version of the Thule Spring Bumper Bar?

A: No, all Thule Spring Bumper Bars produced before or after the affected production batch will continue to be sold and are safe to use.

Q: How are you sure only the indicated production batch is affected?

A:Our supplier has been able to secure that it is only the indicated production batch that was not produced according to our specifications.


Q: Will I receive any compensation for this?

A: Please be aware that you will not experience any cost for this product exchange. The Thule Group will, upon registration by you online send you a replacement product free of charge. We ask you to promptly return the faulty unit to us. A pre-paid return label is included with your replacement product. We sincerely thank you for your co-operation and we apologise for any inconvenience.


Q: Does this recall affect Thule Spring Bumper Bars - 11300403, sold everywhere in the world?

A: No. Since there is only one single production batch that is affected, this recall only effects products sold in European countries.
