At the Thule Group we take product quality very seriously and product safety is our top priority. We conduct extensive testing to ensure that our Thule products meet all global industry and regulatory standards. Unfortunately, we have identified a situation where the Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter for Chicco® (#11000301) to be used on the Thule Sleek Stroller, can, under certain circumstances of overload, break with the risk of the car seat not being properly secured, posing a fall hazard.
Although the Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter passes all structural integrity tests according to applicable standards, the safety and well-being of our customers and their families is of utmost importance for us at Thule and it's our policy to act whenever we identify potential risks for injury, or are made aware of them. As such, the Thule Group is conducting a voluntary recall on all Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada. We ask that you immediately stop using this product. Thule is providing customers who purchased the Thule Sleek Car Seat adapter for Chicco a full refund or free of charge replacement Thule Sleek Car seat adapter (available June 2020) or Thule Sleek bassinet. You will receive a pre-paid shipping label in order to return the product to Thule Group free of charge. To receive your refund or replacement product:

A: No. It is only the Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter for Chicco® #11000301 that is being recalled.

Q: Can I continue to use the Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter #11000301?
A: No. Since we have decided to recall the product we ask consumers to immediately stop using the Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter for car seats from Chicco® and that they do not allow others to use it. There is a risk that the structural plastic part of the car seat adapter can break under circumstances of overload, with the risk of the car seat not being properly secured, posing a fall hazard.

A: Yes. This is only related to the Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter for #11000301, all strollers and car seat adapters from Thule fulfill all global standards as well as Thule’s internal test standards and are safe to use. Your Thule Sleek stroller and the car seat from Chicco® are safe to use independently.

Q: Why haven´t you discovered this issue earlier?
A: The Thule Sleek Car Seat Adapter for Chicco® #11000301 has passed all regulatory global standards and requirements (EN 1888:2012, ASTM F833-15, SOR 2016-167). Although the testing is extensive and gives a very representative picture of the usage of the products over its full lifetime, not all product use conditions can be simulated. We have since been able to replicate the failure when using the product beyond its recommended load as indicated in the instructions and warnings.
Q: What testing have you performed on the car seat adapter to verify the safety of the product?
A: Thule performs more than 50 different tests on a stroller and car seat adapter. This is a well-defined set of tests defined by global test standards and regulatory requirements, but we also perform additional internally defined Thule tests to meet the safety and quality levels we require of a product. The tests consist of fatigue test, static and dynamic tests, chemical resistance test, temperature tests, UV test as well as user testing.

A: We request you to immediately stop using the product and contact Thule to arrange the return of your existing product.
