Not for mountain bikes

I read another review warning about mountain bike fit. I was short on time and decided to take a chance, purchasing this bike carrier at a local outdoor retailer. What I like: it fit my Dodge Grand Caravan well (I was surprised), it assembles fairly easily, fairly easy on and off, bikes feel secure. Good price point for someone who only needs to transport bikes occasionally and can't use a roof rack. I made a trip from the White Mountains of New Hampshire to Acadia National Park in Maine, about 4 hours on major highway and winding back roads at all speeds, and the bike holder worked great throughout. I added an extra chain lock to secure bike to the carrier and prevent theft, though the entire rack could be removed from the car easily by a thief who was so inclined. What I don't like: I had four mountain bikes - adult male, adult female, two youth. Only the adult male bike with traditional triangle frame would fit. The two arms on which you rest the bikes are too wide. Additionally, the rubber bike holders on the arms are bulky, making it even more difficult to slide the bikes over them. I was able to get the larger of the two youth mountain bikes on by taking off one of the rubber holders. I found nothing in any official product description that said adult road bikes only, but if you have smaller mountain bikes, kids bikes, or adult bikes with anything other than a clean, large triangle frame, you might not be able to get them on.

Good budget friendly bike rack.

Good bike rack but the hard plastic that hugs the frame is starting to rub the paint off. You have to put a towel in between or buy a clear adhesive protector to protect your bikes paint job.

Good but some flaws

This rack is okay. It took me a while to get to the point where I could cinch up the straps tightly enough. I think a different kind of mechanism might work better to allow you to cinch the straps easily. The bottom pads split after just a few months so I had to wrap them in tape, and the top ones became flat. A somewhat denser material would be better.
