Very sturdy but not made for a woman

4

I have found this rack to be super sturdy on the car and when travelling. I don't worry about my bike at all. This rack however, is not as easily adjusted as the videos show. It's not very heavy and it's easy to put it on the car and tighten it down but adjusting the arms is just ridiculous. This rack is not made for a petite woman to adjust. I have watched the videos endless times but the "rocking the arms" to fold them simply does not work. the only way to adjust the arms is when the rack is off the car. I don't even bother to put them down nor fold it up to store it. I did contact Thule directly about these questions and rather than being directed to a video that would show me from Thule themselves how to adjust, I was told to call their customer service #, not helpful at all. Not any reference was made to help adjust these arms. Perhaps I just have a bad rack? but I would seriously not recommend this trunk rack to any of my female friends. I've had Saris and Yakima and this one by far is the most difficult to adjust. The arms simply "do not" fold just by rocking them. Nor does the rack fold up easily by adjusting it to the number of your car. But once it's on it's great.

Great Trunk Bike Rack

5

The rack is easy to install and is light in my opinion. It is very easy to put your bike on and off. The rubber straps are easy to use and seem to hold the bike securely. The lock cable is only long enough to lock down the rear bike and should be long enough for both bikes which is the only minor negative i have found so far.

Sturdy frame, adjustable levers

3

Very sturdy and secure frame with anti-theft locks. I have traveled over 1,000 miles with my bike secure. The frame is overall pretty heavy for me and hard to adjust the levers/loading arm. Once the cinch levers are in place, it needs to be tightened and securing the silicone straps on the bike frame is also very difficult. I am almost tempted to use lotion or soup to make the straps easier to secure on the bike frame. For a petite person, it is a lot of work for one person and I am exhausted by the time I am done. I would recommend this for a middle-aged man. The rack itself is made from good material, design could be made for easier adjustments.
