Sleek and simple styling
from North OC, So Cal
Comments about Thule Circuit 526:
Bought this thinking it is simple, sleek and not to much fuss. And the product is! Couple complaints; 1)with the wide foot print of the front mount, you'd think an equal underneath clamp will compliment. But no, unless really tighten down, the front kind of wobbles side to side. 2) that tightening mechanism should be better designed to tighten better, before clamping. 3)Tray being a bit long that by the time mounted on cross bar, my tail gate, spoiler hits the tray. However, aside from those negatives, it is one sleek, nice looking bike carrier, that carries my bikes well and secure.

Not noisy when installed correctly
By Jon F.
from Springfield, OH
I also complained of the noise of the skewers sliding around, particularly in corners, and my first solution was to use a toeclip strap to keep the skewer handles in place. I later discovered that the real fix is to install the front section of the rack as absolutely as snug as possible. Not only does it eliminate ALL side to side play when a bike is mounted, but it also puts enough force on the skewers to keep them from banging around and driving you crazy. I've got two Circuits paired with Thule aero bars on my Saturn Astra, and the wind noise is only barely noticeable above 70mph. My only gripe is that without something clamped tight into the skewers it is easy for anyone to remove the rack in under a minute; the option to place a keyed-alike cylinder somewhere to keep the rack itself from being stolen would be a nice running change.

Not Secure when a bike is not loaded
Easy to install and load which is good because when there is not a bike mounted it would take about two minutes to disconnect the skewer assembly and take the whole part. I had an older Thule rack years ago that was more secure and that I did not worry about leaving on my vehicle full time. The other reviewer has the right idea about filling the Gap where the forks rest when not in use so it is more secure. Also the skewers make a lot of noise when cornering as they slide in the turn. At first I thought the noise was the rack itself but was relieved that it was only the Skewers. Again, wouldn't leave the rack on because there is no way to truly lock it to the bars.
