Good and solid, but the details...

Comments about 9028 Vertex 2 Bike:
Well built, very sturdy. Used in a 2" receiver and it is very stable.Biggest problem during assembly - the anti-sway cages. They are multiply hinged pieces that need to be assembled by snapping together. But there are a number of different ways to do it, and it takes trial and error to get it right. If you don't do it right, the cages hang at an angle and you'll have to take them apart and try again. In my case, one of the middle links didn't fit. The hinge has a slot so it can be snapped on the bracket fixed to the rack arms. The slots on one of the links was too narrow. I had to use a file to widen it until it would fit. This turned what shold have been a 5-minute exercise into about a 30 minute swearing fest. Then I had to remove and swap the links another one or two times until they hung properly. If the hinge piece fit propery to begin with, the frustration level would have been very much lower.

Not as secure as it looks
from Tampa, FL
Do not purchase this product if you intend to use it for Triathlon/TT bikes. The rubber straps were either too tight (paint damage) or too loose on my top tube and the 'anti-sway' cage did not fit on my down tube. Since the product guide instructed not to tighten too tight, I used the setting that was one notch looser and it came unsecured after a 20 min drive on highway conditions. Before I knew it was loose the stress caused the other strap to pop off and I lost my bike. If you decide to buy this product ensure you use the canvas strap to secure to the vehicle.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

from Florida right now!
After a year of OUTSTANDING results using my Vertex 9028 carrier I have a problem. On a multi-state trip one of the nipples on the cradle broke...thus the strap came off and I almost lost one of my bikes. It appears the end cap of the arm is riveted on and I don't see how I can replace the cradle. Used a spare tube to tie down the bike temporarily but I'm on vacation traveling in Florida and need a permanent replacement. HELP
