Never a need to buy a rack again

By

from Salt Lake City

Pros

  • Durable
  • Easy access to tailgate and truck
  • Easy Load
  • Solid

Cons

  • Heavy (but durable)

Best Uses

  • Mtb, fat bike

Comments about Thule T2 Pro XT:

Love it. Works great, and I never have to worry about the bikes falling off or getting stolen thanks to the locks. Love that there isn't a hitch pin either. Instruction manual was kind of a pain to figure out as there are barely any words written and somewhat vague pictures, but once I got it it went smooth.

    • Don't work with fat bikes

Comments about Thule T2 Pro XT:

Biggest problem here is I bought this rack for my fat bikes, and they don't work. The rear strap is too short so I have to improvise with a ratchet strap, I wouldn't have a problem with this except that I bought this rack specifically because it would work with fat bike, it's going back, please Thule test your products...

      Just Purchased

      Pros

      • Easy Assembly

      Cons

      • Only 4 screws hold cross rails on

      Best Uses

      • Mountain bikes

Comments about Thule T2 Pro XT:

I just purchased this rack. I did have the top of the line Thule swing away. Just purchased a carbon mountain bike and didnt want it hanging from the swing away. This rack was very simple to assemble. All locks were keyed alike. Ratching rear wheel strap is a plus. Front wheel holder works flawless. Tilt down function allows opening rear cargo door on my 2016 Ford Escape. Be forewarned that if you have a back up camera / alarm it will constantly go off while backing due to the rack being only a few inches away inline with the camera. I guess the cable and locks would be what i would call a distraction for an honest thief. In these times, thiefs have all the tools to cut the cables or the cable ends. Also looking at the thousands of dollars in mountain bikes sitting on the rack is an invitation for any thief. There are only four screws holding each cross bar on. You just need a ratchet and Allen to remove the four screws and you have removed the bike and the cross rail together. Too easy for a thief. I might change out two screws on each rail with some torx head screws, that way someone would need several tools to remove it. Probably the best idea would be to get a super HD cable or high tensil grade chain and lock the bikes and wheels to the hitch where a safety chain would go. Overall this rack works very well and the ease of lifting it onto the receiver is a plus. The tightening knob really snugs up the rack and the rack is rattle free.
Other than thieft issues, i would have give the rack 5 stars.
