What makes an icon?

Icon [ʌɪkɒn, ˈʌɪk(ə)n], n. , Famous person or thing considered as representing a set of beliefs or a way of life. From the Cambridge Dictionary

Icons for icons

For eight decades, Thule has been catering to many different people across the globe. Through different eras and generations, we have strived to get people outside and make it easier for everybody to have a full, well-rounded life. But with such a long and broad scope, how would we begin to define the way of life that Thule promotes? What do we actually mean by our two mottos: Bring Your Life and Be You?

Since actions speak louder than words, we try to show it as much as we can through a diverse range of products and an even more diverse team of ambassadors.

Take Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, the Swedish DJs and musicians behind the pop band Icona Pop. Over ten years after the release of their hit single “I Love It,” they are still at the top of their game, ready to take the world by storm again and again. And their energy and ambition didn’t stop when they became mothers. On the contrary,

“The club bangers came when we were super pregnant”,

Aino recounts. “They’re two very different lives, but they go together very well in a weird way”, adds Caroline. Caroline and Aino embody the Thule spirit perfectly. Power women on stage and at home, they seamlessly intersect their lives as mothers and as international superstars.

This is why we are proud to have Icona Pop as the face of our iconic stroller, Thule Urban Glide 3.

Modern parenthood: Active, adaptable, fashionable

If Icona Pop perfectly embodies the definition of an icon, so does this stroller. Thule Urban Glide was the first-ever 3-wheel jogging stroller and constitutes a landmark of Swedish design. It represents everything we believe modern parenthood can look like: active, adaptable, and fashionable. It allows parents to honor their own needs as much as their children’s. And we’re not the only ones who think so: Since 2018, Thule Urban Glide has been exhibited at the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm as a model of outstanding Swedish design. An iconic product for an iconic band.

Today, being a parent doesn’t mean giving up on your personality, dreams, or ambitions.

You can still travel the world, become a rockstar, explore the Amazon, and/or climb Mount Everest if that’s what you want.

Of course, we’re not saying it’s an easy fit. Living a full life with little ones takes extreme dedication and organisation, a supportive community and safety net, and, of course, the means to do it as comfortably as possible.

But despite what the dictionary might tell us, you don’t have to be famous to be iconic. We all have an impact on our surroundings and community; all you have to do is bring your whole self to the task.
