Fostering an active future with Felix Neureuther

In a world where sedentary lifestyles are increasingly common, initiatives that promote physical activity and outdoor experiences, especially among children, are more important than ever.

For Felix Neureuther, retired World Cup alpine ski racer and former World Champion, movement and activity have always been integral parts of life. Felix boasts thirteen World Cup victories and 47 podiums, making him Germany's most successful male World Cup skier. His parents were both former World Cup ski racers, and he is married to former biathlete Miriam Neureuther (née Gössner).

After ending his successful career in 2019, Felix decided to dedicate his life to promoting physical activity and outdoor experiences for children

“These days, social media, smartphones, and computers play such a big role. In my opinion, kids are moving way less than they should. It’s not healthy! So we attempt to reach families and children already in the kindergarten age and help them get moving,” says Felix.

His program Beweg dich schlau! (BDS), which translates to "Get Smart Through Movement!” is an initiative that focuses not just on physical health but also integrates mental agility and environmental appreciation.

Shared values

Developed in partnership with scientific experts and training specialists BDS offers diverse exercises that engage both body and mind, suitable for children and all generations beyond. To expand their reach, Neureuther sought partners who shared his values, leading him to collaborate with Thule.

“Partnerships are always based on shared values and goals. Already while I was active, I always wanted to take on more responsibility and change things. For this, too, I need strong, reliable, and motivated partners.”

Beweg dich schlau! and Thule are working to build a long-term cooperation, as both share a strong set of values and promote an active lifestyle.

The essence of movement

For Felix Neureuther, sport has been a lifelong passion, providing not just enjoyment but also invaluable lessons. Beweg dich schlau! is designed to motivate children to participate in sports, fostering both physical and cognitive development through playful exercises.

“The future will be a major challenge for us as a society. Computers will play an even bigger role than today, so BDS needs to be in every kindergarten, at every school because the kids spend so much time there. And they don’t do any sport there. When should they do it? When they come home, they have to do homework. Also, not many kids go to sports clubs anymore. So we need to find a solution where they have a healthy future!”

Impact and future prospects

The initiative's success promises a brighter, more active future for the next generation. As we move forward, BDS serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring families to embrace a more active lifestyle and ensuring that children grow up in a world where movement and health are prioritized.

“The most valuable gift parents can offer their children is their time. It's not about providing them with a computer or smartphone, but about spending quality time with them, especially in nature and through sports. Children are inspired to be active when they see their parents participating. My advice to parents is simple: cherish the time with your children.”
