This has to be the most convenient, well built and versatile bike rack I researched. It requires normal lubrication maintenance and cleaning, like any piece of equipment. The ability to leave the rack on my small SUV all season, and conveniently and quickly swing the unit to the side when accessing the rear hatch is a real plus. The rubber straps do wear out eventually, but are inexpensive enough to have plenty of spares to carry along. I have not broken a strap yet, and the unit was purchased new four years ago. I don't understand the negative comments from some who have posted here. Although a little heavy, it is not cumbersome. This is the solidest, best looking, easy to use, and most durable bike rack I have ever used/owned.
