Everything I was wanting. People at work see it and say, "that is a sweet rack" and they are right. You won't be disappointed.

I must have bought a lemon!

I have had to return this rack to the store twice because the lock either jams and won't lock or it locks and won't unlock. I am hoping the third time is the last time!

Great rack and very versatile

About Me Competitive Cyclist
First let me say that I love the rack. Very easy to install and very versatile. Rack goes on tight to trunk of my '12 Jetta with zero wabble and bike is very secure on the rack. Love the fact that I can lock the arm on the bike and really loved the fact that I tried very hard to get it off and could not. Only issue is that Thule failed to put a second lock on the left side of the rack to prevent loosening of the left side cables. I locked the rack down with solid tension on all the cables. Even with it locked I was able to loosen the cables on the left side, lean the rack to release tension on the right side and work the cables loose on the right side within about 2 minutes. A simple lock on the left side prevents this totally from happening. Great premise with the lock but advertising that it makes the rack secure on the car is a stretch. However, the rack is pretty awesome and great for carbon frame bikes you want to store upright. I would without a doubt recommend this rack to a friend. However, next rev of the rack should have dual locking mechanisms for the cables or a single lock that locks both sides at once.
Works better than expected.

I chose this rack because it doesn't require lifting to the roof or removing a wheel. It works well with fendered bikes and holds bikes with or without a horizontal top tube. I bought this to use on a Honda Fit (Base). It goes on easily and solidly, sits on metal only and the window wiper has plenty of room to function. On the Honda I don't need to worry about dragging my bikes in dips in the road or the exhaust cooking my tires - this rack holds the bikes at or above the top of the bumper. It folds up nicely while attached to the car, and the trays slide quickly in or out. I used it some commuting this summer. Road work sometimes made the last part of my ride unsafe, those evenings my wife would meet me with the car and I'd throw the bike on the rack for the last few miles home. It took maybe 20 or thirty seconds to open the rack and mount the bike. We drove across the country in November and the rack held up fine.If you need a compact rack to store in a small area, this might not be the rack.If you need a lightweight rack to lug up 6 flights of stairs this might no be the rack.
Pretty Awesome So Far

About Me Collegiate/Pro
So far it is great! Just bought it today and drove 5 hours on the highway. Didn't move an inch. I drive a Mini Cooper and the Thule Book said it was compatible. However, I had to switch the hooks out (bottom for top, top for bottom) and then I had to bend the top hooks so they would actually fit in the crack above my hatch. Other than that, it has been wonderful!

My bike loves it, so do I.
By RAGBRAI veteran
Needed to replace my receiver rack that wouldn't fit on my new car. Had used a Rhodes(sp) trunk rack for years and then a receiver hitch and the problem with both of them was the bikes/bikes swinging around, not with the Raceway Platform which holds my bike steady. One item noted in the reviews was storage problems. I solved that by making a cart to hold the rack and move it around. Made it out of a 6 foot 1x12, a few angle brackets, and 3 scrap 2x8's. All fashioned into an 'L' shaped stand with the 2x8's on the bottom to hold the rack on it's side, I guess you would say the rack part is sitting on the 2x8's with the platform going up and down instead of laying flat. Oh, put something on the 2x8's to prevent scratching. The other 2x8 I screwed to the bottom as a weight to counter act the top heaviness of the cart without the rack on it and then I put for casters(wheels) on the bottom and it just sits on the 2x8's and 2 eyebolts and a short bungee cord and piece of rope keeps in place as I wheel it around my garage to get it out of the way. Sorry I'm too puter illiterate to post a picture.

About Me Casual/ Recreational
I did a lot of research and found that the 9003 Raceway Platform 2 was the best bike rack for a removable rear mount. It's durable, secure, and installs in seconds. I like the the bike(s) don't bounce around and tires don't rotate or spin. I also like that it is a damage free mounting system, unlike other bike racks that I have used that mark the paint. Some reviewers have indicated that it is heavy or bulky, and I simply don't find that at all. I lift it with one arm and secure the clips in place in just a few seconds. I don't leave it on my car when not in use, and put it on and off when needed. I would highly recommend this rack to anyone, either as a rear mount or the hitch mount version. All Thule's customer service is outstanding. Love this rack and Thule is a great quality brand.

Great Bike Carrier
By Gran Fondo Mondo
from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
I have had this rear mounted carrier for over one year, and it has performed great. Unlike other posters who have commented that they had experienced bumper damage/dents, I use this bike carrier on two vehicles: 2010 Toyota Camry and a 2011 Honda Civic, and I have not experienced any rear bumper dents or damage to either of these vehicles, and I use it a lot!It is a little heavy, but it is still easy to setup. Once you connect the top trunk mounts, it is very easy to install.I was able to test several different Thule carriers, thanks to my local bike shop, and this model outperformed all of them. This is a great choice if you are looking for a sturdy, secure and lockable rear mounted bike carrier. You will be very pleased with this model.
faulty locks and cable
easy to install. quality issues remain
Nice rack at a good price.
Due to a recent automobile purchase, I was forced to change from my THULE roof rack setup. Before, I used the Echelon system on top of my Honda Fit Sport. While the rack was exceptional in it's quality and usefulness over the four years I used it, I battled poor fuel economy with and without bikes on top. Therefore, my next bike solution was going to be a rear mounted system. I never looked at any other manufacturer other than THULE.I chose this system because it was not roof mounted and not received hitch mounted. I wanted something that was easily removable from the automobile when I didn't need it, was durable, held two bicycles securely by the wheels rather than the frame or top tube and required no tools to use. This system fits all those criteria. When the box arrived, it was well packaged and was undamaged from the shipping. Unboxing was easy. The instructions for installing the system are easy to understand.Installation: I am using this system on a 2011 Chevrolet HHR. The HHR is a hatchback automobile. Installation with one person is a big tricky the first time. Being able to hold the weight with one arm while securing the cables to the top of the hatch took some practice. Eventually I set the bottom of the rack on the bumper to extract enough cable to pull the rack into place. Unfortunately, this means swapping hands and keeping tension on the cables while so as not to scratch the car. Once the top is secure, partially opening the hatch to secure the bottom cables can also be unruly due to the weight of the rack.Once the rack is installed, the bikes are easily mounted and secured. During travel, the bikes don't move around and I'm not in fear of losing them or scratching the finish on either my car or my bikes. One change I would make is to have a secondary stop for the rotation of the wheel tray to keep it in a secured position rather than using the shorter arm. During the initial install, it kept falling toward me and making the process harder.Overall impressions: This system is solid THULE quality. It is stylish and well engineered. Weight is a factor for installation but not for durability. Good product that fits all my needs.
