Doesn't Fit Well on Aerobars
from Boston, MA
Comments about 554XT Hang-Two Surf Carrier:
I was extremely frustrated with this purchase. After doing much research on which surfboard carrying options were compatible with my new Aerobars, I picked this one for it's appearance of simplistic and intelligent design at a good price. Unfortunately, Thule does not indicate that these adapters are not designed whatsover to fit onto the new Aerobar design. The screw clamp design on the bottom naturally slides down toward the tapered side of the bars (doesn't stay centered), the screws scratch the aerobars when tightening because the bars are so wide, and the bracket damages the rubber on top of the aerobars when tightened. If you own the Aerobars, look elsewhere for a solution to carry your surfboards.

fast, easy and secure
from I.H.B., FL
I have had 2 sets for 3 years now and they live almost 12 months out of the year on my roof. The one set I use the most is starting to deteriorate though and leave rubber marks on my boards (I wrapped them with electric trape now). I mostly use them to transport 14' and 16' prone paddleboards locally, throughout Florida and for Florida to NY runs in the summer. VERY secure driving 90 mph. Just got SUP raceboard and straps are too short for 28" 14' board. Bummer. Also- had one of the plastic clips crack a while back so have to "wing it" for one strap. Would like longer straps (8 inches) and be able to buy replacement clips- seems a waste to replace a whole strap when it is just the clip. WOULD BE ECSTATIC IF I COULD BUY STRAPS THAT ARE 8" longer.

Dont plan on mounting anything wider than 29 inches. The straps are way too short!
