@ 62 yrs old, and a "little old lady" I would not be able to kayak without this amazing loader. Every one that sees it wants one! Thanks Thule!

      Comments about Thule Hullavator 897XT:

When I first saw this, I thought it was the most excessive, overbuilt carrier I had ever seen. Then, I got a 60 lb poly sea kayak, 14 feet long. I could not get it on the car by myself at all without dropping it or scratching it all up. I ate the price and installed this myself; really not too hard.
I am a 55 year old female and I am so satisfied with this product. I can load and go whenever I want, alone, and either paddle alone or meet other people at the put-in. I am not late for my rendezvous with friends and I have not twisted or torqued my back and shoulders trying to load a heavy boat. This thing will keep you out of the ER!
It's a bit heavy and therefore reduces the load I can carry up top. If I have a friend riding with me, an option is to take the hullavator down and use stackers on the remaining crossbar space for 2 boats. The bracket that attaches to the crossbars does not have to come off.
The only con I can see besides weight is that on round bars such as Yakima, the Hullavator will roll slightly sometimes. One must take care that the 2 Hullavator holders are parallel to each other before making the raise or lower. Not really much of an issue but it will not lift if you do not take this precaution.
