Thule goes to sea - world premiere for Thule boat trailers at the Gothenburg Boat Show

Jan 31, 2012

On 4 February, the Gothenburg Boat Show will be hosting a first-ever presentation of boat trailers bearing the well-known Thule brand.  After extensive study of actual use by boat owners and ideas concerning design and function, Thule is able to present a comprehensive model range for transportation of boats as well as jet skis. The choice of design is modern and sporty. The functional systems are smart and secure yet attractive.

In the course of 2012, boat trailers within the Thule Group -  now marketed under the names of Fogelsta and Brenderup - will be rebranded under the Thule brand on the Swedish market. Through becoming part of Thule and, at the same time, by changing elements of the trailer design and function, we are launching a product of higher quality, better functionality and a significantly higher premium touch.

The design of Thule boat trailers is based on an extensive survey of Thule customers, consumers and enthusiasts. The survey shows clearly what the boat owners perceive to be the greatest difficulties with today’s trailers, both which details/devices are lacking and what would considerably facilitate use of the trailer. The single part of the trailer which stuck out in the surveys and comments is the problem with the trailer’s light strip when unloading and loading the boat.

“After listening to the users we reached the conclusion that one of the best, single improvements we could carry out was to solve the problem with the light strip at the back of the trailer,” says Fredrik Ohlsson, MD of Thule Trailers. “It must be possible to take it off simply when driving the trailer down into the water and then place it back in position just as easily. This we’ve solved with a simple, smart and safe solution.”

Thule’s boat trailers are unique in that the complete model range, with around 30 different trailers, is segmented according to type of user and consumer, and not only in accordance with a particular technical specification. This means that it is easy for the consumer to know what he or she should look for. The selected consumer groups are Activity, Cruising, Fishing, Trolling, Sailing and Action.

Thule’s boat trailers have a sporty and elegant appearance, painted in white, black and also available in unpainted galvanised steel. Like all Thule products, they are designed to embody the principles of security, intelligent function and attractive appearance.

“It’s the world premiere for Thule boat trailers at the Gothenburg Boat Fair. This also means that it’s the first time we show the products to distributors and consumers so naturally we are expectant about the reception,” concludes Fredrik Ohlsson.

Thule’s boat trailers go on sale with leading boat dealers and trailer retailers during the early spring of 2012. For more information, please visit www.thule.com from 4 February.
