Thule is the winner of the season’s most extensive roof box test - Thule Dynamic 800 and Thule Ranger 500 are best

Malmö, February 24, 2011 - Thule Group is pleased today about two winners in the season’s biggest roof box test. The test was conducted by the German test institute Dekra and published in the latest issue of Europe’s leading automotive magazine Auto Motor & Sport, which was published today, Thursday, February 24. The all new Thule Dynamic roof box won first prize while the collapsible Thule Ranger 500 roof box took third place.

The well-known Dekra test institute is internationally recognized as a reference in a number of industrial and technical areas. It is also one of Europe’s leading test institutes for the automotive industry and for automobile testing. Seven roof boxes were evaluated in a comparison test that focused on safety, assembly, functionality and quality.

Thule’s new Thule Dynamic 800 roof box took first place, receiving outstanding results in every test category. The aerodynamic roof box that was introduced last September received the most points for how extremely easy it was to securely fasten the box to the roof with the newly patented Thule PowerClick system, and in the driving test where the new “non-slip” material on the bottom of the box prevented baggage from moving around. This provides increased safety while transporting and contributed to winning first place.

The collapsible, soft Thule Ranger 500 roof box, which is especially practical for consumers with limited storage space for when it is not in use, won third place. It performed superbly in the crash tests and was the only roof box where ski carriers for secure ski transport were included in the basic design.

Thule offers consumers a wide assortment of stylish, practical roof boxes and accessories that are developed and tested according to our strict safety standards. The impressive ratings from Dekra highlight the fact that Thule roof boxes stick out from the rest.

Greger Juhlin, Vice President of Product Development, says “I am very happy that the newly introduced Thule Dynamic and Thule Ranger roof boxes both received top ratings in this independent comparison test. This clearly underscores that Thule’s prioritization on safety pays. Our smart solutions that focus on user-friendliness and stylish design show that Thule is still one step ahead of its competitors.”
